Project YouthFinLit members part of the Lambert High School chapter wanted to create the perfect fundraiser for the end of summer that would allow them to efficiently raise funds for the printing of PYFL brochures. After days of planning, they came to the conclusion of creating a bake sale! The Bake sale was a huge success, and allowed them to support PYFL's mission while also bringing their team and community closer together.
The first step of the bake sale was to create a blueprint for how the bake sale would run, essentially the behind-the-scenes action. They decided to sell cookies, cupcakes, and brownies as these were popular treats that people would be sure to invest in. Members matched the bright summer spirit with two large glasses of yellow and pink lemonade. Another important part of the fundraiser was utilizing media marketing to raise awareness about the bake sale, and to create a buzz about the first fundraising event of the year. To do this, the Lambert PYFL team worked around the clock to post TikToks, Instagram posts, Facebook posts, and numerous stories about the event. All their hard work paid off in the end with the success of the event!
On the day of the bake sale, members established shifts throughout the day to ensure smooth operations. On the first shift, four team members set up the tables, food, and a PYFL bake sale sign. Throughout the day, members ran methodical shifts with two people present at all times. The bake sale allowed the Lambert PYFL team to come closer together connect with their community, as they all pooled in effort over a shared goal: fundraising for Project YouthFinLit; spreading financial literacy in a streamlined manner.
The main goal of the bake sale was not to simply raise money for PYFL but to also spread awareness about Project YouthFinLit. To ensure this, members gave out flyers to each customer after every purchase, and even set up a huge sign with a QR code that connected to the website. This allowed members to explain PYFL's goals, ideas, and our central mission to youth worldwide. This method of advertising allowed members to connect with potential volunteers as well as share PYFL's passion for community.
Overall, they had a huge turnout and a lot of fun with cool lemonade and sweet treats! The Lambert PYFL team's hard work in creating and executing a bake sale ended up a huge success. The event allowed us to increase awareness about our organization's central mission while also raising funds. We hope to have more fundraising events like this in the future that are also a sweet success!
